FOURNIER’S BAKERY AND CAFE
This is a really small bakery, but really EXCELLENT! Right downtown Pacific Grove sits this little bakery that is all about high quality. This is the guy we are choosing to make our daughters wedding cake so I guess you could say we think very highly of his quality. His specialy it cakes — wedding cakes in particular… and he does an amazing job! Wow! Very creative –he can bake anything you want and his quality is outstanding.This is a great place to just walk into also and have cup of tea or coffee and enjoy one of his daily pastries or home made pies….Yummmm! His pies are the best! So you can have lunch here too — simple, but well done menu for a light lunch. Everything he does is wonderful. REALLY! This one is worth the visit or drive. Opens at 8am everyday. One of the best cups of cappacino too. I’d give this a 9 out of 10 on the bakery and a 7 out ouf 10 on the cafe. $$1/2 out of $$$$$

BECHLER PATISSERIE
This is a well kept secret on the Peninsula. It’s easy to get to (go towards Pacific Grove on Hwy. 68 — when you see the Safeway on your left you’ve gone one block to far — turn around in the Safeway parking lot and to across the street — about half a block back)Okay…this is the real thing when it comes to fine French pasteries. All hand made and exquisite! You can call them and ask them to make anything, but it’s more fun to go in and see for yourself what they have in the display case. I recommend this bakery very highly for those special occasions where you’re looking for something special and rich. Their quiche is out of this world! But go there for yourself and see if you don’t agree if it’s not one of the best in the business. Great spot for lunch too. Have the half sandwich and bowl of homemade soup — you can’t fo wrong. It even has an OCEAN VIEW from it VERY informal dining room. Worth the tirp from Carmel, Pebble Beach, Carmel Valley and Monterey.Price range: Inexpensive menuBakery prices: ReasonableI give this four and a half stars out of five.

Great Bakery AND lunch spot!! Yes, this is one of those well kept secrets that is VERY tastey and well worth the drive from anywhere on the Monterey Peninsula. The bakery is top notch for goooey deserts that are all natural and oh soooo good! Call ahead or go to their website and order a special order cake or desert. Talk with the owner to make sure she gets exactly what you want. We have ordered their Lemon yellow cake several times and it was outrageous! Super lemony and seriously good! Go there for lunch and talk to the owner about what you want — I’ve learned this is the best way to get the best results. Lunches and BREAKFAST ‘s are GREAT!!! I give this place a 4.5 out of 5 for quality and value.Cute and SUPER informal. Worth it!! GO! Moderatly priced
